WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Permanent makeup, also refered to as micropigmentation, is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, eyelids and eyebrows.
WILL IT LAST?
Micropigmentation lasts a long time, but not forever. It is important to follow your before care instructions and after care instructions. Sun block should be used to keep the area from fading from direct sunlight. You will want to freshen up or touch up your make up every 1-2 years.
IF I AM ALLERGIC TO REGULAR MAKE UP CAN I HAVE PERMANENT MAKE UP?
Clients who are allergic to make up is usually allergic to the binders, fillers, preservatives and fragrances in that make up. Permanent make up pigments use iron oxides making them perfect for permanent cosmetics.
IS THIS PROCEDURE SAFE?
Yes. The technician is Board Certified and registered with the State of Illinois. View Stacy's certifications here. All OSHA and CDC guidelines are followed. All needles are sterile, for single use and disposable.
WILL THE PROCEDURE HURT?
Topical anesthetics are used to minimize the discomfort during the procedure.
WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE RIGHT AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
Your procedure area my by red and slightly swollen. The color may look darker for the first few days while it is healing because of the lymph and blood that may have been brought to the surface during the procedure. While your procedure area is healing, it will go through 3 phases, heal, peel and fade. Eyebrow procedures have the least swelling. Your eyes may look like you’ve been crying for a few hours, it is important to wear sunglasses, after your appointment, as your eyes may be temporarily sensitive to light. The lips often involve temporary swelling. After 4-6 weeks of healing, a touch up appointment will need to be set up to adjust the final result. Some clients may need a second touch up appointment to achieve their final result.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY PERMANENT MAKE UP?
After your procedure, you will receive your after care instructions and care package. The overall success of your procedure will depend upon you following these instructions. A touch up appointment will be rescheduled for 4-6 weeks to “fine tune” any area of the skin that expelled any pigment. View our Care Instructions here.
IF I AM TAKING MEDICATION CAN I HAVE A PERMANENT MAKE UP PROCEDURE?
Clients on certain medications may have to get a release from their physician prior to their appointment. That will be determined during the consultation appointment.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE ANY PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO A LIP PROCEDURE?
If you have ever had a cold sore or fever blister, you must take an antiviral pre-procedure. Your physician may prescribe Valtrex, Famvir or Zovirax. Herpetic outbreaks usually occur on the 3rd day post-procedure. If you do experience an outbreak, you may lose the implanted color in the area of the outbreak.
